Congratulations on yet another outstanding GBATA conference.  The GBATA 2004 international colloquium in Cape Town, South Africa was superlative not only for the exceptional quality of the scholarship and presentations but also for the high level of collegiality among the conference participants and the hospitality on the part of the conference organizers.  We will look forward to future GBATA gatherings.

First of all, I would like to reiterate both Sergio’s and my thanks for all you did to make the GBATA conference in Cape Town such a success.  The fact that it was in South Africa where integration is visibly becoming a reality, thanks in greater part to Nelson Mandel’s role-model leadership of “spiritual intelligence”, to use Mr. Pretorius’s terms, made it especially inspiring.  Indeed, right from the beginning, the speeches of the opening plenary session, and later, the numerous papers of South African colleagues that touched upon management issues where the influence of local socio-economic and political factors is no doubt critical, where food for thought regarding the importance of this type of leadership for effective management in a global world.
